The NGLE Manual

By Paolone and George Maciver

History

The original Tomb Raider Level Editor (the TRLE) was released by Core in 2000. The TRLE was the Level Editor Core used to make The Last Revelation. In early 2008, Paolone released a new Tomb Raider Level Editor, the Next Generation Level Editor (the NGLE). To power this new Editor, Paolone also developed the Tomb Raider Next Generation game engine (the TRNG). The NGLE is the Editor and the TRNG is the game engine that powers it.

Learning the Editor doesn’t happen overnight. It is best accomplished by first studying the Official Manual and mastering the TRLE basics. When you have a firm grip of the basics, you can then dive into the dazzling array of new features and expanded capabilities of Paolone's NGLE. Thank you Paolone for this remarkable gift.

For further information on the TRNG, see the Tools Page and TRNG Updates information page. There is a selection of project files illustrating many of these tutorials available from the Project Files page.
