Tomb Raider Level Editor Tutorials


The Tomb Raider Level Editor is an unforgettable experience. Whether you build just one simple level or an epic adventure, it is an experience that will never leave you.  However, starting out with the Editor can be a lonely and frustrating experience as well as being a thrilling and exhilarating one! The Editor will reach into your soul and touch your very being with its heart. Whether you enjoy that experience or not, is entirely dependant on how well you understand the heart of the Editor.

Learning the Editor doesn’t happen overnight. It is best accomplished by first studying the Official Manual and mastering the basics. However, the Official Manual only scratches the surface of what you can do, and that’s where this fresh collection of tutorials comes in. From working with the guide to using sinks, from mirror rooms to advanced flip maps, it is hoped these tutorials will help keep alive the original Tomb Raider experience for many years to come.

If you have a tutorial covering material not published here, please send it in to be added to the library. Use the contact information on the home page. Be as comprehensive as possible and use screen shots and diagrams to illustrate your points. If deemed appropriate for the site, you will be fully credited for your work.

Getting Started

Important: If you are planning to build the tutorial level by following the manual, do not install any versions of the TRNG. Simply install the original Level Editor and use the resources that come with that to build the tutorial level by follow the official manual. Once you have built the tutorial level and mastered the basics you will be nicely placed to progress to the TRNG Mk1 and learn more advanced level building techniques.
