Story
Lara's quest takes her across Japan in search of the gold of the
Tokugawa Shogun, from Mount Akagi to the Capital Metropolis, to
the final confrontation in Tokyo Bay.
The Grand Lodge is a fictitious representation of the actual
location in central Tokyo. If you travel to Tokyo Tower you can
find this building. It is next door. The actual architecture of
the real lodge is not gothic at all but is far more modern. That
said, this level has parts based on truisms but mixed with ideas
from such things as Kubrick's EYES WIDE SHUT, H.P.Lovecraft's
Necronomicon and Edgar Allen Poe.
From the moment you step inside the lodge you are captivated.
Rarely does a Tomb Raider adventure immerse you so completely. Nice to see Masonry being revealed as
the open door to the seat of
the evil eye. Perhaps you will not be quite so blind as to who
really holds the power of the world after this little adventure.
The detail is astonishing. From the ticking grandfather clock to
the brilliant use of the clockwork beetle, from the gameplay to
the lighting and texturing, this adventure simply oozes
professionalism.
But beware! Search diligently for medipaks and guard them well,
for without them you will not escape from the Dark Lair.
