Story
Castle Doomsday was a legend come true for Lara, the thought
of owning the Golden beetle was more than she could have
expected. The inherent powers of the Golden beetle is said
to enable the raising of the dead, and how true this is for
Lara, when she enters the castle from an underground cave.
Her objective is to find the Golden beetle and deprive Lord
Doomsday of his most treasured possession. Without this
artifact he can never rule his 'castle of the walking dead'.
Be aware though, for he will not give up his prize so
easily. He will push her to the limits with his devious
tricks and traps, and will hunt her down with his faithful
guard. The dead will come at her from all sides,
relentlessly seeking her 'bloody' end.
Not everything is to Laras disadvantage though, as she will
discover certain objects that will help her, like the 'Holy
prayer' scripture.
The eyes of all the lost souls of the castle will be on her,
as she attempts to retrieve the artifact, hoping that she
will succeed.
Castle Doomsday
This was one of those levels I always meant
to play but never seemed to have the time. I wish now I'd
made time sooner. If you're in the mood for a single level
castle with a fluid and consistent gameplay, then this is
it. A perfect blend of exploration, mystery, puzzle solving
and fighting, this level will keep you enthralled until you
solve the final puzzle.
The atmosphere and mood is full of suspense and often
thrilling, with an engaging storyline. As you solve areas
and move to the next, you never quite know what to expect
and it never disappoints. Solidly constructed and tested,
you can play with confidence without having to worry about
bugs or gameplay problems.
The gameplay is so well constructed you are never wandering
around hopelessly lost or fighing impossible battles. For
the last big fight there is even a convenient grenade ammo
pickup for your battling pleasure. And pleasure it is!
Blowing up skellies has to be one of life's little joys.
This is a memorable and satisfying single level thriller
suitable for one of those quiet evenings in alone. I believe
the geometry was designed by her brother Terry. All in all,
a damn fine level.
