Story

Wrath of Thor begins where Isis’ first level, Temple of Thor, finished; with Lara picking up Thor's glove from a pedestal. As she picks up the glove, a nearby door opens and Lara is off on a new adventure to find another glove, body armour and Thor's legendary gold hammer. Along the way she will meet some old enemies and some new ones...

Wrath of Thor

“Wrath of Thor” even though it is a few years old now is still one of my all-time favourite custom levels.

Picking up the first Glove from a pedestal opens a nearby closed gate and also incurs Thor’s wrath, which isn’t a good thing. He starts an earthquake. If that wasn't bad enough, you'll have to run the gauntlet between arcs of lightning, falling boulders, deep pits and one of the biggest wraiths I have ever seen, in a mad dash for safety. As you sit in a pool of water getting your breath back and wondering if Lara really should continue in this quest, curiosity gets the better of you and you begin to wonder what else Thor (and Isis) have in store for you and Lara!

Well, they have an abundance of skeletons (during the gauntlet run you did manage pick up the grenade launcher, didn’t you?), some horsemen and gladiators, and the afore-mentioned large wraith and his not-so-little brother. A novel way of opening a locked door and a very intimidating room with rolling balls and pillars that disappear from under your feet if you don’t jump quickly enough are other things you will encounter. As well as the new traps and enemies, there are some old favourites such as lions, timed runs and flame traps, and the return of the guide.

The rooms are beautifully planned and textured and have an almost organic feel to them. You move from caverns to temples to gardens quite believably. The terrifying atmosphere of the beginning becomes a more general apprehension as the level progresses and gradually turns into awe with each and every room. This level set isn’t a walk in the park but it is a highly enjoyable raid. Some of the traps are difficult, but not impossible. I highly recommend this set of levels.

There are ten secrets:

Wrath of Thor 3
Roman Baths 3
In the Lap of the Gods 2
Bonus Level - Quest for the Helmet 2

In “Roman Baths” you will need to have the Volumetric FX switched on to show the steam. I strongly suggest you do this; the effect when you walk into the baths room is amazing.
