Story
These levels take place in the hot and humid jungle of Cambodia.
The second level "Temple Ruins" is a BONUS-level. This means
that Lara and Von Croy won't be able to access it unless Lara
finds all four "Golden Skulls". If you don't find all four
skulls, you'll be sent back to the menu again instead of going
on to the next level.
"Jungle Fever"
Werner von Croy is leading Lara towards the ancient ruins of
Ankor Wat. What he doesn't show her is the location of the
"Golden Skulls". This is where Lara has to venture out on her
own.
"Temple Ruins"
Wanting to take the shortest route to the Iris, Von Croy gets
himself locked up in a corridor. So it's up to Lara to find her
way to the Iris alone and set Von Croy free again.
Jungle Fever
Jungle Fever is by far one of the most beautiful
jungle levels I have ever seen. Titak has an exceptional eye
for detail, and the result is an enthralling and strikingly
realistic level.
The setting is a fusion of TR3’s Jungle and TR4’s Angkor
Wat, and the levels are played with Young Lara (thus devoid
of guns and flares) but this doesn’t detract from the
experience.
The gameplay is varied throughout the two levels – in
‘Jungle Fever’, the challenge is mainly in finding the
secrets. There are some crocodiles and wild pigs to pester
our adolescent heroine, but otherwise nothing too dangerous.
‘Temple Ruins’ ups the difficulty considerably, with many
spikes and blade traps to be avoided, but the game never
becomes frustrating.
Jungle Fever is a fun, satisfying, and completely absorbing
raid. Even if you aren’t keen on Young Lara levels, give
this a try if only to admire the stunning locations. A real
gem of a level.
