Going to War for the First Time Written by Marquis George The full Knighthood help wiki by hive7 can be found here - http://wiki.hive7.com/Knighthood Don't go to war with a few Knights and Ladies and 40 or 50 squirrels. If you do, you will not enjoy the experience. Ditch all your squirrels and only keep a few, between 6 and 10, no more. Either that or only go to war with squirrels and learn without risk. If you only have a few Knights and Ladies, fill your Wall defensive column first. Once the Wall is filled, then fill your Tower. Your Tower protects your gold and vassals are harder to seize from it so make sure that's kept stocked with good vassals. Don't bother with crusades to start with. Yes, you get an extra attacker or even two, but what use are they if there is no one to attack in your Attack Bracket? The extra attackers will also shoot up your TAS and you may very well find yourself with only 3 or 4 people you can target. That isn't much fun. Additionally, you can't rescue during a crusade, which makes trappers rather dangerous. Don't bother trying to conquer folks at this level. It can cost a lot of gold and they get annoyed and rebel and you lose them again anyway. Folks don't like being conquered, obviously, and you will more than likely just make an enemy in your kingdom that unbalances your defences and who kicks the stuffing out of your defences rebelling. If you really must try to have a sovereign join you, why not just ask them nicely to swear loyalty to you? If you do conquer someone, gift them to a good liege in war mode who can look after them for you until you get to peace mode so your defences are not totally unbalanced. When seizing vassals, look for folks who have only 3 or 4 of them, as they will be easier targets than those with a dozen or more. Check if those you are targeting have an active trapper. If they do it usually shows in the first few pages of their activity log. If you're not sure, raid with your lowest attacker as a squirrel (10). If they have an active trapper don't attack them until you figure trappers out. Watch the activity logs to see how folks are getting round them (trapper bombing). If your opponent doesn't have a manned trapper, raid full strength. Once you break through a defensive column and loot some gold or pillage some weapons, you're ready to try for a sieze. Stick to vassals in the column you've weakened and attempt seizes by going through the vassals one by one until you find one that's in that column and then keep siezing and healing and rearming until you get it. If they have 20 or 30 vassals, that might take some time and some gold. Go through the list of available targets displayed on your Attack screen and be selective. Check a persons alarm. Alarm is added to their defence strength and if someone's alarm is higher than their TAS, look for an easier target until you learn the game. Once you've seized 5 or 6 Knights and Ladies, man a second defensive column and then start collecting vassals for the third. You will likely lose one or two vassals and one or two of your seized vassals will be rescued, so always aim to sieze say half a dozen in a session to stay ahead and leave valuable vassals, like girlfriends and parents, with a friend in peace mode so you don't lose them. When logging off, make sure your Palisade is fully staffed and your Outpost if you can (but not at the expense of your Wall and Tower). Your outpost will raise your Alarm for you. If you do that an hour or two before switching off your PC, you can keep an eye on your kingdom and your Alarm will rise for you. If you have a high alarm and won't be around for a while, don't attack as that resets your Alarm to 0. Note Another idea might be to go to war with ONLY power 10 squires and handmaidens and a couple of Raider Freemen. That way you can get to grips with the mechanics of the game without worrying too much about losing good knights and ladies. If one of your squirrels installs the game and becomes a knight or lady, you can gift them to a friend for safe keeping. The only way you can lose good vassals this way is if someone seizes a squire or handmaiden from you and then the squire or handmaiden installs the game while with the other player. Back to Top
