Reign of Chaos
- The Airport by
Agnes

Difficulty: Easy
I always enjoyed the idea of having a hub level where one could
return to relax a bit and gather some strength before rushing on
to the next challenge. Such is the case in the Reign Of Chaos
project and quite appropriately so, considering that the rest of
the game moves ahead at a neck-breaking pace. As much as I loved
all the thrills and excitement awaiting our intrepid heroine
around each corner I was always somewhat relieved to be allowed
to return to the airport after having accomplished each task. I
had been anticipating this adventure for months by the time it
was released and after patiently waiting for the over one-hour
download to finish I was so to say bouncing in my seat from
excitement at the first sight of the airport. There was never a
doubt whatsoever in my heart that this is what they call love at
first sight. Usually one-month-or-more raids tend to be so long
and complex that I’m put off only by seeing the sheer size of
the download, but with this one it would never occur to me to
simply leave it for later.
Lara begins her quest in the main hall at the airport. It starts
off relatively easy and the hub levels are not very long, but
there are still quite a few areas to explore around here.
Among other tasks you will get to go searching for pickups among
stored luggage and enter the ceiling ducts via the lavatories in
order to go secret hunting in a charming little gift shop.
There will also be plenty of other things to do here and you
will never be bored, because the airport does not remain the
same throughout the entire game. Every time you come back you
will find that some small details have changed from the last
time, so there are always new areas to explore and new
challenges to deal with. Here you will also find the gates
leading to the plane which will take Lara to each new and exotic
location.
At first I was under the impression that you would be able to
choose where to go next at will, but this turned out to be a
grand illusion. There is in fact only one gate open at a time
and you have to go through them in a specific order.
The last time Lara arrives at the airport,
day has turned to night and she must now find a way down
into the basement where the last of the five gems is hidden
- the orange Chaos Gem. Only then will you be able to access
the gate leading to the final destination - Natla’s Hideout.
