Walkthrough by Harry Laudie
[Note] I may be wrong, but this level must set a
new record for the total number of timed runs in
a single level. However, the timing is
reasonable and humanly possible to do. That is
the way timed runs should be. [End note]
You start facing a small hill. You can hear
spikes and a trap door dropping. Behind you is a
closed door that needs an item. Go west and over
the hill. Pick up a
shotgun and two
red shotgun shells partially hidden in a
bush. Drop through the hole with a large spider
web and land in water. Pick up
M16 Type A shells
and a large medipack
beside the blue crystal. Swim down through
another large spider web. Swim east and keep to
the left to avoid a falling ceiling. Swim north
and surface for air. Look south and you can see
a closed underwater gate, two underwater levers
and a gem. Pull down the timed south-west corner
underwater lever and swim into the timed open
gate in the south-east corner. Pick up
Relic 1: Mayan Sun
Talisman for
secret #1. Pick up a
large medipack
and blue shotgun
shells and swim out to surface for air.
Swim south into the opening under the waterfall.
Ignore the gem as a spike trap protects the gem.
Pull down the underwater lever on the wall and
get a cut scene of a wall dropping. Swim up to
the north-east corner and pull up into the new
opening. Jump over the corner spike trap and
follow the tunnel to the other side. Pull down a
wall switch and hear a gate open. Turn north and
climb the green vine with the blue flowers. At
the top, back flip onto a ledge. Stand jump
over the slope to the north-east. Slide down and
jump onto another slope. Slide down into an
alcove. Pull down the wall switch on the south
wall. There are many places with white or red
spots floating in the air. I do not know if they
indicate something or are just decorative. Jump
over the slope to return to the tunnel. Climb
the green vine again and back flip onto the
ledge.
Go south through the open door. You are on a
ledge over the water pool. Run and jump south to
grab a tree branch. Pull up and run and jump
onto the south-east tree branch for
blue shotgun shells.
Return to the first branch. Go west and jump to
grab the hanging chain. The following seems to
be more luck than skill. Turn to the south and
drop to the bottom of the chain. I started to
swing when the spikes popped up in the south
wall opening. I took two swings and released to
land in the opening. Quickly stand jump forward
to get out of the way of spikes. Save the game
when you make it into the room. Pull down the
wall switch and get a cut scene of spikes
dropping near at the gem you saw earlier. The
spikes have also stopped at the opening.
Safety drop into the water and swim east to pick
up M16 Type A shells
and small
medipack. Swim around to the other side
of the structure. Swim to the bottom and pick up
the Amethyst
gem off the floor. Swim out and west and get a
cut scene of a raised platform. Swim up through
the hole and pull up onto the raised platform.
Jump onto the ledge and jump to grab the east
raised platform. Pull up and stand in the corner
to shoot a parrot.
Jump to grab the north wall and climb out of the
hole. Go east and place the gem in the
receptacle to open the door in the temple in
front of you.
Enter the tunnel and go to the end and pick
M16 Type B shells
from the floor. Drop into the water pit and swim
into an underwater tunnel. A current carries you
to the end. Pull up into another area and see a
tree to the west. Stand in the corner and shoot
a parrot. Go
west and south and save the game in front of a
timed wall switch. Pull down the wall switch and
get a cut scene of a door opening. Wait until
the wall switch resets. Pull down the wall
switch and side jump to the left. Run slightly
forward at an angle to the left. Back flip onto
the tree base and jump forward to grab a bridge.
Go left through the open timed door and stop
inside to save the game.
Carefully walk through the room and stay near
the inside left wall to hopefully avoid the
pieces of falling ceiling. Get into the corner
and pull down the wall switch on the east wall.
You get a cut scene of a gate opening at the top
of a waterfall. Exit the room and go across the
bridge. Stand jump onto the waterfall. First,
stand jump to grab the upper tree branch to the
north. Run and jump onto the west wall tree
branch. Pick up M16
Type A shells and
large medipack.
Run and jump down to the waterfall again. Notice
a key lock on the south side edge of the
waterfall. Now go to the open gate and hop
backwards into the gate. Quickly run out to the
south-west to avoid a rolling wire ball. Now go
to the open gate and hop backwards higher into
the tunnel. Quickly run out and to the
south-west to avoid a second rolling wire ball.
Return to the tunnel a third time. Near the end
look up to the west and see a climbable wall.
Climb up the wall and pull up onto a slope. Back
flip into a tunnel behind you. Go south and get
a flyby of a key and the next room. Ignore the
water pit for now, as a spike trap will kill
you. Go west and pick up
M16 Type B shells
from the partial skeleton on the floor. Enter
the west wall tunnel and save the game in front
of a timed wall switch. Pull down the wall
switch and run east and around the water pit.
Run through the open door and onto a slope. The
floor is a deadly fire trap. Slide down and jump
forward to another slope. Slide down and jump
forward into a tunnel. Run to the end and pull
down the wall switch. The screen will shake.
Return to the tunnel entrance and run and jump
to the south-west through the open door.
Dive into the water pit and get into the hole in
the south-west corner. Follow the path between
the horizontal fences to an underwater lever on
the north wall. Pull down the underwater lever
and see spikes. Ignore the underwater lever on
the east wall, as it is a spike trap. Pull down
the underwater lever on the south wall and see
spikes pop up at the key in the corner. Swim
there and pick up the
Golden Key.
Swim back and pull up into the room. Enter the
open door in the south wall. Pick up a
shotgun
from the floor. Save the game in front of a
timed wall switch. Pull down a wall switch and
get a cut scene of a gate opening. Wait until it
resets. Pull down the wall switch, roll, and run
out of the room. Jump north-west over the corner
of the water pit. Sprint down the west tunnel
and through the timed open gate. When you make
it, the gate will stay open.
Pick up M16 Type A
shells and M16
Type B shells from the pedestal. Go north
and save the game in front of a slope. Stay near
the left wall, slide down a little and jump into
an alcove. Pick up two
M16 Type A shells and the
M16. Drop onto
the slope and continue sliding to the bottom.
You get a short cut scene of a closed door. You
drop into the room that you left earlier. Use
the tree base slope and bridge to get back onto
the top the waterfall.
Go up the waterfall and climb the wall again. At
the top pull up and back flip into a tunnel. The
gate is open in the north wall. Enter the tunnel
and stand jump up a slope. Pull down the timed
wall switch and continue to follow the tunnel.
Run and jump over the timed fire and into an
alcove. Pick up Relic
2: Ancient Mayan Vase for
secret #2.
Jump back into the tunnel and follow the tunnel
down and back to the climbable wall. Run off the
ledge and grab the climbable wall. Climb down to
the bottom and go west to the top of the
waterfall. Drop on the south side next to the
key lock. Use the key in the key lock and get a
flyby of a spiked tunnel and door opening behind
you.
Turn around and pull up into the new tunnel.
Slide down the slope to the left of center. Go
pass the first spike trap and jump with a right
curve to avoid the second spike trap. Slide down
into a water pool. Go north and get out of the
water. Shoot the native
and continue north. Pick up
red shotgun shells
and two M16 Type A
shells from the skeleton on the ground.
There seem to be something green near the
skeleton but I could not pick it up. Go west and
slide down the slopes in the tunnel. You land
next to a small water pool. Walk into the
south-west corner of the pool and pick up
red shotgun shells.
Exit the pool and save the game before you go up
the north slope. Run up and a wire ball rolls on
the right side. Jump to the right and wait while
two more wire balls roll past you to your left.
Run and jump over a spike pit. Land on a spot a
little right of the middle where you can stand.
Continue up the hill and enter a room with a
platform.
There is a sign "viva el punal serpentino"
written in blood on the walls. Go to the
south-east corner and enter a crawl space.
Follow the tunnel to a wall switch. Pull down
the wall switch and get a cut scene of a block
rising in the room that you just left. Return to
the room and pull up onto the block. Jump to the
north wooden platform and pull up onto a ledge.
To the west is a wall switch protected by a fire
emitter. Follow the east tunnel to a wall
switch. Save the game in front of the timed wall
switch. Pull down the wall switch and get a cut
scene of the fire emitter stopping. Run down the
tunnel and run and jump to grab the edge of the
west ledge. You can pull up and stand jump over
the fire emitter. If you have trouble, just
shimmy around to one side before you pull up.
Pull down a wall switch and the door opens in
the upper north wall.
Safety drop to the floor. Climb the block and
wooden platform again to the ledge. Run and jump
into the open door. The door closes behind you.
Shoot a snake
hiding in the corner bush. Follow the tunnel to
a room filled with deadly water. Grab the
ceiling and monkey swing to the tunnel in the
corner. The camera view changes. Follow up the
tunnel with the yellow lava river on the floor
and time a monkey swing past a fire emitter.
Continue and turn to the right to drop into a
tunnel. Continue down the tunnel and get past
the teeth doors and wall darts. The door opens
at the end as you approach it. Enter the door
and be careful as the door can push you off the
ledge as the door closes behind you.
Go north and pick up a
small medipack and
two red shotgun shells.
Run and jump onto the central column. Run and
jump to pull down the north-east jump switch.
Drop to the ground and shoot
two natives. One
native will drop a
small medipack. Climb the wall ladder on
the west wall to return to the ledge. Run and
jump onto the central column again. Run and jump
to pull down the north-west jump switch. Drop to
the ground and shoot a
parrot. Two walls have dropped at the
east and east sides of the room.
Go west into the open tunnel. Follow the sloped
tunnel to a room with very cold water. Notice
the cold breathe when Lara breathes and the
second blue bar when Lara dives into the cold
water. Jump onto the nearest blue block in the
water. Look down to the east and see a crawl
space. Getting into the crawl space is hard
because Lara seems to dive too deeply. When you
get in, follow the crawl space to a small room.
Pull up on the columns to the south. Hop onto
the higher platform and pick up
Relic 3: Serpent's Gem
for secret #3.
You may need to add to your health before you
swim back. Swim back and pull up onto a ledge.
Now jump the blue columns to land on the highest
column. Pull down the jump switch on the upper
south wall. You hear a gate open. Stand jump
down the wooden platform in the north-west
corner. Get into an alcove and enter the open
gate.
Follow the sloped tunnel and drop into a pool of
cold water. Pull up as soon a possible to the
nearest ledge. Run and jump onto the wooden
platform at the west wall. Follow the tunnel
around to a room with a speedboat. Go south and
pull down a wall switch to open two large doors.
Go to the east ledge and just run towards the
speedboat to enter it. The instructions from the
author are:
Press CTRL to accelerate forward.
Press ALT to stop or reverse.
Press SHIFT and left (or right) arrow key to get
out.
Drive out through the doors and follow the
river. Drive onto a stone bridge and drive over
it. You stop in the water pool on the other
side. If you miss the stone bridge, you drop
into a deadly pit. Get out of the speedboat. Run
and jump to the platform to the north and pull
down the jump switch. You get a cut scene of the
spikes on the platform to your north. Run and
jump onto the platform and get into the water on
the other side. Swim down and into an underwater
tunnel in the north wall. Swim into a right side
alcove to avoid a falling wire ball. Continue up
the tunnel and the water is warmer as the second
blue bar goes away. Swim up the tunnel and then
swim to the right. Swim into another right
tunnel and wait for another rolling wire ball.
Swim up the tunnel that the wire ball came
from. Eventually pull up into a dry tunnel for
air.
Follow the tunnel and go up a slope. Slow down
near the middle to avoid a spike trap. Continue
up the tunnel to a small room with a platform.
Get onto the platform and save the game. Pick up
the Sapphire
gem from the pedestal. Quickly run back into the
entrance tunnel. From there you can safely shoot
two raptors.
Enter the room and exit out the east wall
tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a slope. Slide down
backwards and grab the edge. Safety drop to the
floor. Go east up the slope to return to the
room with the jump switches.
Cross the room and enter the east wall tunnel.
Follow the tunnel to a lava river. Go left and
save the game in front of a timed wall switch.
Pull down the wall switch and run east. Hop onto
the first timed block and run and jump to grab
the second timed block in the corner. Pull up
and run with a left curve and jump to grab the
ledge to the west. Pull up onto the ledge. Stand
jump to the south wooden platform. Go west and
see the blocks in the lava river. Run and jump
down to the first block. Stand jump to the next
two blocks and carefully jump into the tunnel in
the north wall. Run and jump north onto a
breakable tile. Run and jump north to the next
tile, which does not break. Get onto the next
block at the wall but do not touch the wall
switch.
Run and jump to the wooden platform at the south
wall. Run and jump to the west corner platform.
Run and jump to the south wall and grab the
climbable wall. Climb up and into a tunnel. Go
to the end to pick up
M16 Type B shells and another
M16. Exit the
tunnel and follow the platforms back to the wall
switch. Pull down the wall switch to raise a
block to close off the tunnel. Jump the
platforms again and jump to grab the south wall
again. Climb hand-over-hand and pull up into a
higher tunnel. Go forward and slide down a
slope. You land near another lava river.
Stand jump to a rock and hear thunder to scare
you. Run and jump to a south-east rock and enter
the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a small room
with lava streams. Go to the north-east corner
and pull down the wall switch behind the door.
Stand jump to the central platform and pick up a
torch from the
pedestal. Stand jump onto the south wall block
and then onto the raised block next to it. Stand
jump north to a wooden platform. Just follow the
platforms around the room. On the last platform,
run and jump into the tunnel in the east wall.
Slide down the floor and light the torch on the
fire dragon statue. Go north and enter a tunnel.
Drop the torch near the wall switch. Save the
game in front of the timed wall switch. Pull
down the timed wall switch and pick up the lit
torch. Run west and around the corner to exit
out the timed open gate. Run and jump over the
lower section of floor or you will slide down
again. You are back at the room entrance.
Jump down the platforms in the reverse order
that you jumped up earlier. Get onto the floor
and light the two pedestals at the east and west
wall. Do not stand too close or you can catch
fire. The entrance door closes but a new door
opens in the west wall. Pick up a
large medipack
in the north-west corner. Enter the new tunnel
in the west wall. Follow the tunnel to a room
with a platform. Pick up
M16 Type A shells
and M16 Type B shells
on the green floor at the north wall. Jump onto
the platform and save the game. Pick up the
Emerald gem
from the pedestal. Either shoot
two raptors or
ignore them and just run into the tunnel in the
south wall.
Slide down a slope and at the bottom jump to
grab a climbable wall. Climb down to the bottom
and release. Go to the ledge with the open gate.
Grab the ceiling and monkey swing to the east
ledge and save. Monkey swing as before up the
lava river and avoid the fire emitter again. Get
through the teeth doors and wall darts again.
The door opens for you and you enter onto the
ledge again. Climb down the wall or safety drop
to the ground. Get onto the north ledge and
place the two gems. The center section of the
north wall drops. Enter the tunnel and pick up
two red shotgun
shells, M16, four M16 Type B shells, and
a large medipack.
You can hear the dragon
around the corner.
The dragon can be killed. You can run into the
room to fight as the door closes behind you but
it would be fatal. I stayed outside and used the
M16 Type B shells as poison ammo. Then I waited
a while just in case the poison ammo actually
works. When I finished that ammo I use the M16
Type A shells. You can save and reload to avoid
the locusts.
Eventually the dragon dies and explodes. Enter
the room and the door closes behind you. Enter
the south wall tunnel and the wall drops in
front of you. Go to the end and climb the wall.
Climb to the top and back flip into a tunnel. Go
north onto a ledge overlooking the room. Go west
and pull down the wall switch. Run and jump
north onto a raised platform. Then run and jump
north onto a block in front of a tunnel.
Follow the tunnel to a small room with a
platform. Get onto the platform and pick up the
Punal Serpentino
from the pedestal. A door opens in the
north-east corner. Enter the tunnel and run
towards the light as the level ends.
