The level starts with a short flyby of the secret idol.
You start in a cave and two doors open in front of you.
Enter either door into the next cave and shoot
three wolves. There are
three exits from the room. Go to the north-west corner
and enter the corridor. Go west and shoot a
wolf. At the end of the
corridor, pick up a small
medipack from the plant to your left at the
corner of the wall. Shoot another
wolf and face south.
Ignore the steps and enter the tunnel to the south-west.
Run down the tunnel and shoot a
wolf. At the end, shoot another
wolf and go east. You
see a closed door in the south wall that needs a key.
Shoot three bats.
Continue to the east and turn to the north at the
corner. Follow the corridor north and return back to the
starting area.
Now go south-west and drop down into a room with a pool
and a few openings. Go through the door in the north
wall. Enter a storage area and shoot a
bear. Pull up to the
north ledge and go to the north-east corner for a
small medipack. Drop to
the floor and exit the room. Dive into the water and
swim north and east into a flooded room. Swim to the
south-east corner and pull down an underwater lever on
the south wall. Swim up the vertical shaft above you and
get air. Do not pull up but swim down to the flooded
room again. Swim to the north-west corner and pull down
the underwater lever on the upper west wall. You get a
cut scene of a door opening. Swim back to the south-east
for air and pull up into the room. Go south and pick up
a small medipack from a
platform. Hop into the south-west corner alcove. Pull
down the wall switch and exit through the open door in
the west wall. You may see an open door to your right in
the same wall. That is for later. Go down the blocks to
the pool.
Dive in the water and swim north, west, and south to
enter another pool in a room. Pull up onto any ledge. Go
to the south-west corner and enter the open door from
the cut scene. To your left is a
small medipack. Go to
the west corner for shotgun
shells. Go to the
north-east corner and save the game in front of a timed
wall switch. Pull down a wall switch. You hear a door
open. Exit the room and run to the north and enter the
open door before it closes. You cannot sprint but it
helps to jump over the obstructions on the ledge. Enter
and the door stays open. Notice a crawl space to your
upper right. That is for later. Enter and dive into the
water. Swim to the north-east corner for the
shotgun.
Exit the room and dive back into the water. Swim back to
the central room with the pool and pull up onto the west
ledge.
Pull down the wall switch on the west wall and the door
opens beside you. Enter the room and follow the steps up
to an opening in the east wall. Run and jump to grab the
opening in the opposite wall. Pull up and notice the
breakable tiles in front of you. Drop onto the tiles and
run and jump to grab the alcove in the east wall. Pull
up into the central alcove. You have a choice to pick up
either a large medipack
or a small medipack.
There seemed to be no way to get both of them. Safety
drop to the floor. Push the white moveable block in the
east wall as far as possible into another room.
Shoot a bat and go east
to hop onto the ledge. Go to the north-west corner
alcove and pick up a Heavy
Silver Key. Go to the south-west corner alcove
and pick up a Gold Idol.
Go west to hop onto a block and pull up onto the higher
ledge. Shoot a bat and
pull down the wall switch on the south wall. Go to the
north wall to pick up a large
medipack and exit through the open door. Go west
down some steps and continue west to the wall. Turn to
the south and follow the corridor to the closed door.
You may have to shoot a bat.
Use the key and the door opens.
Enter the next room and crawl under the wall darts. Exit
into a large cave and stay at the door to shoot two
wolves. Go forward into the cave and shoot
another three wolves. Go
south and up the steps of the building. Enter the open
doorway to the east. Follow the tunnel to a room with
water and ledges. Go up the steps on the north wall and
jump onto the south ledge. Run and jump to the
south-west ledge and enter the doorway. Follow the steps
to a higher opening. Run and jump to grab the east wall
ledge. Pull up and enter the tunnel. Go up the ramps to
the end and find an alcove to the right. Pull up to the
west into a higher tunnel. Go west and overlook the roof
of the building.
Drop onto a lower block and face north. Jump to the
north block and enter the alcove. Pull down the wall
switch and get a cut scene of a door opening in the
front of the building. Jump back to the south block and
safety drop onto the lower roof. Search the roof for
shotgun shells and a
small medipack. Go
north and safety drop to the front of the building. The
middle door is still close. Enter the open door to the
west. Follow the tunnel to a room with water and
breakable ledges. Go to the north-east corner and stand
jump to grab the higher ledge to the west. Just run
across the tiles to the south-west corner. Pull up onto
the higher ledge to the north. Jump to the ledge at the
south wall. Jump to the ledge at the east wall and pull
up to the higher ledge to the north. Run and jump south
to the corner ledge and enter the tunnel.
Follow up the steps and shoot a
bat. Pull down the wall switch on the north wall
and get a cut scene of the middle door opening in the
building. Go east to safety drop off the bridge and onto
the lower roof. Safety drop to the north and enter the
open middle door. Follow the tunnel and get past the
four swinging blades. Pull down the corner wall switch
and the trap opens beneath you. You fall into a water
pit. Swim south through the archway and swim up to
surface. Pull up onto any ledge and shoot a
bear. Notice the closed
door needing items in the south wall.
Dive into the water and swim into the underwater tunnel
in the west wall. Follow the tunnel to a flooded room.
Pull up on the west ledge and run up the steps. At the
top, go north-east and pull down a wall switch. You get
a cut scene of the door opening in the south wall. Dive
into the water and pull up on the south ledge. Notice
the three wall torches about the south exit door.
If you place the Gold Idol in the left door receptacle,
the door opens, and you can exit the level. Do not do
that yet. There is still a secret to find.
Go onto the east ledge. Go to the south-east corner and
enter the tunnel. Follow the steps onto another ledge.
Go west and pull down the wall switch. You get a cut
scene of the gates opening back near the swinging
blades. Go north and enter another tunnel. Follow the
tunnel to a room with a water pit. Drop into the water
and pick up Uzi ammo.
Pull up back to the ledge. Run and jump with a left
curve to grab the crawl space in the upper east wall.
Crawl in and stand up. Follow the tunnel to the end for
flares and
Uzi's behind the
statue. Pull down the wall switch on the north wall
behind the statue and get a cut scene of the exit door
with a lit wall torch above it. Get back to the water
pit. Pull up and return to the ledge. Drop into the
water and pull up in front of the north door.
Exit out the north door and get past the swinging blades
again. Go north through the room with the wall darts and
back to the pool. Climb the blocks at the east wall. You
exited this door before but now you want the open door
to the upper left. Run and jump into the open door. The
camera view changes. Climb the ladder and back flip into
a room. Shoot two bats
and go to the north-west corner for
flares. Enter the crawl
space in the lower south-west corner. Pull down the wall
switch and get a cut scene of the middle lit wall torch
over the exit door. A trap door opens and you drop into
the pool below.
Swim north, west, and south to the other pool. Pull up
onto the west ledge and enter that timed door again. It
should be still open. Just inside the doorway, pull up
into a crawl space in the north wall. Go to the end and
pull down the wall switch. You get a cut scene of the
third lit wall torch at the exit gate. Wait and an
earthquake happens. You get a flyby showing a collapsed
ceiling and another area. Get out and swim back to the
first pool. Pull up and follow the steps in the
north-west corner to the earthquake area.
Go to the corner and pull up to the west. You enter an
ice and rock cave. Turn to your left and pick up
flares. Go to the
north-east column and climb the vines on the north side.
Pull up onto the roof and save the game. Approach the
breakable tile in the center of the roof from the south
side. Go north and jump up to grab a ledge. Pull up into
a room. Go to the south-west corner for
shotgun shells. Pull up
into the alcove behind the north wall statue. The right
side seemed easier to pull up than the left side. Pull
down a wall switch and get a cut scene of a gate opening
into a lava room. Get down and run south with grab over
the hole and you should land on the roof and not fall
through the deeper hole. Safety drop to the ground and
get through the next hole. Return to the pool area and
go south to the room with the wall darts.
Enter the room with the wall darts and turn left to
enter the tunnel in the north-east corner. Follow the
tunnel to a room with shallow water. Go east into
another small room. Pick up
flares form the south-west corner. Pick up a
small medipack in the
south-east corner. Be careful of the fire in the bowl in
the middle of the room. Go to the north-east corner and
kick in the east wall. Follow the tunnel to emerge at
the lava room.
Run and jump south to grab the nearest column. Shimmy
around to the left and back flip, roll, and grab the
next column. The best place is where Lara's hands are at
the middle of the middle red band. Shimmy to the left
and back flip, roll, and grab the top of a slope. Shimmy
to the right and when the fire emitter is down, pull up,
slide down, and jump to grab the column. Quickly shimmy
to the right to avoid the fire emitter. Climb up and
back flip, roll, and grab the next column. Shimmy to the
right and back flip, roll, and jump with a left curve to
land on a safe island. Jump to the next column. Shimmy
left, back flip, roll, and grab the last column. Shimmy
to the left and drop onto a safe ledge. Shoot an
annoying bat before it
pushes you into the lava.
Face east and jump over the first slope. Land on the
next slope and jump with a left curve to grab the top of
a slope. Pull up, slide down and jump onto another
slope. Slide down and jump forward to grab a column.
Shimmy to the left and wait until the fire emitter
stops. Shimmy to the left, back flip, roll, and grab the
next column. Shimmy around to the left and climb the
column to pull up onto a roof. Go west to the edge of
the roof. Run and jump onto the north-west roof and
shoot a bat. Go north
and run and jump straight to the west to grab the next
roof. Be careful of the low ceiling. Go north and jump
onto the roof over the entrance. Pull down the wall
switch and get a flyby of a bridge over a deep pit. Go
to the south corner of the roof. Climb down the ladder,
release, and grab the ledge below. Pull back up onto the
entrance ledge.
Exit back through the tunnels to the room with the wall
darts. Go south towards the building and then go to the
west where you see a column and a large alcove behind
it. Get behind the column and enter the crawl space from
the cut scene. Go through the crawl space and onto the
bridge. You cannot jump the ropes to get the flares. Go
forward on the bridge and run and jump back to the east
to grab the ledge. Pull up and pick up the
flares. Climb over the
south block and pull down a wall switch on the opposite
side. You get a cut scene of a gate opening somewhere.
Get over the block and jump back to the bridge.
Run to the west end of the bridge and pick up flares.
Again you cannot jump over the ropes. Back up onto the
bridge and run off the side and grab the west ledge.
Pull up and light a flare to see two moveable blocks in
the west wall. The north block by the bridge is moveable
block #1. The block at the south end is moveable block
#2. Go to the south end and push in the moveable block
#2 twice. Enter and turn to the right. Push in moveable
block #3 twice. Turn to the right and push moveable
block #1 out onto the ledge. Go back and pull back
moveable block #1 onto the middle of the ledge. Go back
inside the right tunnel and pull back moveable block #3
twice. Exit to the ledge and shimmy around moveable
block #1. Enter the tunnel and pull down the wall switch
on the north wall. Exit and shimmy left around moveable
block #1. Go into the tunnel and push block #3 to the
north. Pull back block #2 twice. Shimmy around block #1
again and get into the tunnel behind block #2.
You can see the treasure room behind the bars. Go north
and loop around to the right to pull down the wall
switch on the south wall. You see a gate open in the
treasure room. Exit back to the ledge and shimmy around
block #1 again. Run off the east ledge and you should
fall into a deep part of the water pool below you. Get
out of the water at the west side. Go south and hop into
the tunnel in the south wall. Follow the short tunnel to
a high room with many ledges. Go to the south-west
corner and pick up flares.
Pull up onto the south-east column. Pull up into the
north side of the hole in the ceiling above you. Get
onto the south-west higher blocks and pull up onto the
upper south or west ledge. Go to the south-east column.
Climb the east side of the column to reach the higher
ledge. Shoot two bats.
Run and jump to grab the ledge to the north. Pull up and
stand jump to grab the crawl space in the north wall.
Follow the crawl space and enter the treasure room. Pick
up the large medipack
from the north-west corner. Pick up the
Vilcabamba Idol from
the pedestal for secret #1.
Exit the room and go through the crawl space again. Give
yourself maximum health and safety drop onto the ledge
below.
Return to the south-east column and climb up again. Run
and jump to the north ledge again and climb the short
block beside you. Pull up on the south side to the
higher ledges. Follow the east ramp to the top and pull
up into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to the end. Face
east and climb down a ladder. At the bottom, safety drop
to the bridge. Go east and exit back to the cave with
the building. Enter the middle tunnel again and get past
the four swinging blades. Jump over the traps doors and
enter the room with the pool. Go to the south wall and
place the Gold Idol in the left side receptacle. The
door opens in the south tunnel. Enter the tunnel and run
forward to end the level.
